Background:

Our client, a very large player in the oil industry, is seeking a Project Accountant to join the team in their Dublin City Centre Head Office. If you have great people management skills, an eye for detail and a willingness to drive improvements in processes and systems, then this role is for you.

Primary Purpose of Job:

The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying opportunities for process improvement and lead its implementation through process automation and systems upgrades related to front-end processing. The individual will meet agreed daily, weekly and monthly targets and publish reports to the business. They will also streamline the processing within the department to achieve greater efficiencies for the business and improved productivity within the team.

Main responsibilities:

  • Full knowledge of the flow of data at the front-end of the business and be capable of performing all processing and accounting functions within the financial software package

  • Accountable for end-to-end business process delivery. Manage monthly accounts close and ensure unprocessed / outstanding transactions are properly investigated and resolved with interaction and dialogue with the finance team

  • Handle more complex transactions which may involve re-pricing, data analysis and preparation of ad hoc reporting for the Depot network, internal departments and the management team

  • Play an interactive role in coordinating with external auditors and schedule & monitor internal audits of each business sector

  • Review the current Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the current effectiveness of all processes e.g. Credit Notes, stock Gain / Loss, bank reconciliations etc

  • Continuous implementation of system and process improvements to improve the KPIs within the team and the front-end of the business to ensure a best practice control environment

  • Review, update and implement department policies and procedures and ensure strict adherence to company policies both within the department and across the front-end of the business

  • Review of monthly reports and liaising with line management on improvements or changes to local processing or reporting

  • Management of the support team including recruitment, training and performance management

  • Train and mentor the support team to enhance department performance, personal development and work productivity

  • Play a key role in IT and Business projects as required

 

Experience and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, possess strong organisational skills, come from a finance background and be able to work in a fast paced team driven environment

  • Accounting Qualification (preferably ACA or ACCA but not essential)

  • 3 - 5 years of work related experience

  • Minimum of 2 years people management experience

  • Extensive knowledge of IT & ERP systems

  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel essential

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple relationships across departments

  • Demonstrated process management and improvement skills

  • Self-motivated, flexible & enthusiastic and a strong team player
